President of the Barbados Motoring Federation, the island’s FIA-affiliated governing body, Andrew is a member of the FIA World Motor Sports Council and an F1 Steward. A fierce competitor, too, he was a front-runner in the 1990s in rally and speed events, joint BRC Rally Champion in 1989, then joint Speed Event Champion in 1990. With Sean Gill, he also won the June Safari (navigational event) on four occasions between 1989 and ’97. He rallied the first 4wd Subaru in Barbados in 1980 – at 16, he had to navigate, so Mark Stoute drove the car until he got his driver’s licence – then moved on to a Toyota Starlet, then Suzuki Swift, also racing at Bushy Park in the ‘90s. On his return to action in 2011 after an absence of around 15 years, he drove a GpN Subaru, which was upgraded to GpA, before he joined the growing R5 class in 2020.
